September has seen much preparatory work done, as the workers ground down the concrete floor to make it perfectly smooth before applying a waterproof sealant to protect the Church floor and the crypt below once the roof is removed. From September 14-18, the monks had to take refuge in the Chapter room for the Divine Office and Mass due to the toxic fumes of the sealant. Scaffolding is now in place both inside and outside the Church to continue work.
On the South side of the monastery, the monks have been helping to prepare the excavation of the refectory wing by removing the temporary cloister buildings and uncovering and relocating power and water lines.
